Persuadable voters need to know that Dan Hawkins takes money from the insurance and drug companies he would regulate as Insurance Commissioner, and that he has sided with the industry over Kansas families.
Dinah Sykes has pledged not to take a dime from insurance companies. Hawkins can't say the same.
These voters need to learn about Hawkins's record of taking money and favors from special interests:
- Gave a $50,000 state contract to a college friend who then donated to him
- Took over $40,000 from insurance companies in a single year
- Won the "Golden Fork Award" for the most free lobbyist meals of any legislator
- Took taxpayer-funded trips to Las Vegas and Japan
These voters also need to learn about Hawkins's record of siding with the industry over Kansans:
- Voted against requiring insurers to cover breast cancer screenings and hearing aids for children
- Blocked bipartisan legislation to lower drug costs
- Blocked Medicaid expansion
It's important that persuadable voters - particularly in the Wichita, Topeka, and Kansas City DMAs - who can be reached 1:1 directly see these messages on premium subscription streaming services, other digital media, and if possible, in mail.
